Violet and globular, the Mars grape is one of the largest grapes in the northern US. Because the grapes are so large and the clusters are of modest size, the grape per cluster ratio is smaller than other varieties. The Mars grape tends to grow upward if not maintained and trellised so care after establishment is important. The grape enjoys heat so planting on a southern slope is crucial for ripening.
