First developed in France in the late 1600s, this is an old cultivar for fig varieties. Like its name suggests, this is a very dark fig; near black in color, this fig ripens to a subtle sweetness with bright red flesh. Like other figs, this tree does not ripen all at once, instead produces several crops throughout the year. Suitable for porch containers, this fig makes a beautiful addition to landscaping.
