The Parker Pear was introduced by the University of Minnesota in 1934 as a compliment pear to its other newly introduced pear varieties. In Spring the tree opens with an abundant amount of white flowers clustered along its branches. The flowers turn to small clusters of pear which ripen in August. Its fall foliage is also stunning, turning a deep purple color. This tree cannot tolerate standing water but is excellent in an urban environment.
The pear is medium sized, fine-grained, and juicy. It is green in color that blushes to a dark purple-bronze color when ripe and can remain on the tree until ripe. Most pears should be picked just before they're ripe. Ships Spring 2023
