A vigorous dwarfing rootstock introduced in 1929 from the East Malling Research Station in Kent England. The standard dwarfing rootstock to which all other dwarf rootstocks are measured. Typical height to 55% of Standard or just under 12'.
This rootstock, released in the late 1950's is a cross between M.16 (giving it it's vigor) and M.9 (giving it it's manageable size.)
Vigorous grower.
Rootstocks are about 18" long and are ¼" in caliper. Sold in packs of 5, 10 and 25.
Final Height: 40 -50% of Standard; ~10' - 12'
Resistances: Susceptible to Crown Rot and Fireblight
Suckering: High
Support Required. Strong but brittle.
Precocity: Very early
Cold Hardiness: Hardy
