First developed in the mid 2000s and available to the public in 2009 by the Purdue University Apple Breeding Program. It is a cross between Rock 41-112 and PRI 841-103 and was named PRI 2463-101. Fortunately it was renamed WineCrisp to highlight its color and texture. The apple is medium-large, about the size of a Gala, and is round. Its skin is a dull rusty red color with creamy white flesh. The flesh is breaking and juicy.

It is resistant to powdery mildew and fire blight and is immune to apple scab. The tree grows vigorously and should be thinned to avoid biennial cropping. Apples grow in cluster on spurs and should be thinned for largest fruits. Good storer under ideal conditions. Check out more information about the Winecrisp here!
