A tall, upright, columnar evergreen shrub, the Arbor Vitae is a perfect hedge shrub. It grows in zone 3-7 and can tolerate numerous different varieties of soil. The branches are tightly packed together creating shelter for birds while also providing privacy and wind breaks. They require little to no maintenance. This standard Arbor Vitae grows vertically with a slight taper toward the top. Generally uniform along the height of the tree.
