Honeygold Apple
Developed at the University of Minnesota Agriculture Research Center by crossing a Golden Delicious with a cold-hardy Haralson. The result was a Golden Delicious style apple that was suitable for far northern zones. The golden yellow skin surrounds a creamy yellow flesh that has a pronounced but not overwhelming pear flavor. Skins turns bright yellow to golden red when ripe. Stories have it that the Honeygold is a parent of the legendary Honeycrisp but this is actually not the case. A moderately vigorous grower and easy to care for. These apples can store well for up to 3 months.
