Kandil Sinap Apple
Discovered in the Sinop Peninsula- modern day Turkey- in the 1700s. The apple is strikingly long and oblong in shape; similar to an early Strawberry Apple. The apple is juicy and has a sweetly complex flavor. Its skin is thicker and waxy with a yellow green color. When ripe, its skin flushes a pinkish-red hue usually on one side of the apple.
The trees grow in a similar pattern as a pear tree~ it is upright and arching though generally smaller, even on large rootstocks. Tree is very columnar in shape. Fruit grows in clusters so be sure to thin apples to have the largest fruit. Noted resistance to fireblight.
