Red Rubens Apple
This Italian apple is a cross between the Gala and Elstar apples and is also known by its patented name of Civini. Commercially available since 1988, it has become quite popular in orchards across central Europe.
The fruit is medium to large and conical in shape. Its skin is smooth, medium thick, and redder when grown in cooler climates. The flesh is cream colored, firm and juicy; sweet and aromatic. The firmness keeps well in storage. This apple stores well in normal conditions and can be used throughout winter as a dessert or eating apple.
