Made available to the public in the 2000s, the Story® Apple (or Story® Inored) is a disease resistant variety from the Novadi Corporation in France. It was bred to be a late apple, disease resistant, and fresh eating. It is conically shaped and striking red covering nearly 95% of the apple. It is very firm, crispy, thick skinned (good for disease resistance and storage), and very sweet. If left on the tree like the first image- it can loose that vertical orientation and darkens quite significantly. The flavor grows more robust with age.
It is a late-season ripener, about 20 days after Golden Delicious and is a consistent fruit setter. It has shown resistance to numerous apple diseases and stays small on many rootstocks. It also is a great storing apple keeping for nearly 8 months under normal conditions. Check out Story®'s Fact Sheet here!
