Hard Cider Collection
The first apples brought to America were used for hard cider production. We offer a pack of 4 apples as a starter kit for hard cider production. These all pollinate with each other and grow to USDA Zone 4. The tree below are selected by the folks at Roots to Fruits Nursery and are all at least of the 'Field Ready' size.
- Red Jonagold (Sweet)
- Cortland (Sharp)
- Brown Snout (Bitter-Sweet)
- Hewes (Virginia) Crabapple (Bitter-sharp)
These apples have similar bloom groups and harvest times but different acidity and tannin levels. Use more of 1 and less of another to blend different ciders.
