Position Overview
The Orchard & Nursery Operations Associate (ONOA) plays a vital role in the seasonal care, handling, sales, and logistics
of nursery operations.
This position supports nursery staff, logistics, sales, inventory management, planting, shipping, and customer interactions.
Work varies by month and includes both physical labor and customer-facing responsibilities.This is a hands-on role ideal
for someone interested in horticulture, orchard systems, or agricultural business operations.

Essential Job Functions:

Tree Handling, Inventory & Labeling

• Sort, label, organize trees, and orchard rows
• Count, record and maintain inventory data (variety, pot size, height, rootstock) and verify for website
• Help prepare trees for winter storage and hibernation

Shipping & Logistics Support

• Organize trees, bins and aisles in coolers
• Load and unload trees for deliveries
• Pack and wrap trees and scionwood for shipment
• Assist with local tree deliveries
• Help move trees between orchard, parking lot, and storage areas

Administrative & Office Support

• Assist with data entry for inventory and planting records
• Help prepare customer pickup notifications
• Organize order packets and paperwork
• Support office setup for shipping season
• Process shipping orders using applicable software
  

Retail & Customer Experience

• Greet customers and direct them to appropriate areas
• Assist customers in locating trees
• Answer basic apple and tree questions using provided resources
• Support retail operations during orchard season
• Assist with checkout during busy periods
  

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs (trees, bins, equipment)
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (cold, rain, sun, wind)
• Willingness to perform repetitive physical tasks (moving trees, boxing trees for shipping, and tree care)
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods throughout the day
  

Nursery & Field Operations

• Driving company vehicles/equipment such as tractors, and forklift
• Assist with planting trees in fields and containers
• Install tree guards and fencing
• Water trees
• Help set up and remove drip irrigation lines
• Assist with pruning and general orchard maintenance
• Support seasonal projects such as sunflower hoeing and corn maze planting
• Help prepare orchard grounds and garden areas for peak season
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Interest in horticulture, agriculture, or related fields
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Attention to detail for labeling and inventory tasks
• Spanish-speaking ability is a plus, but not required
  

Details

• Status: Seasonal, Exempt
• Season: Flexible; typically spring through fall (dates vary)
• Hours: Variable by season; weekends required during peak orchard season
• Flexible days off
• Compensation: $16.00 Hourly
• Housing: On-site housing may be available
• Supervision: Report to and work under the direct supervision of the core orchard and nursery ownership/leadership team.
