American Hazelnut

The American Hazelnut is a deciduous shrub native to Eastern North America. Specifically native to Missouri, this shrub is primarily used for the nuts it produces. It can grow to 10-16' tall and around 8-13' wide. It produces flowers in Spring that are about 2-3" long- the plant is monoecious (male and female flowers on the same plant) and typically produces Hazelnuts within a few years and is tolerant of most soils types. However, all fruiting plants prefer well drained soils. Hazelnuts are edible nuts and are usually roasted to bring out their flavor. Ships Spring 2025.
