Brianna is extremely cold hardy, tolerating winter temperatures down to approximately -30°F. This vigorous, healthy variety performs reliably across a wide range of soil types and climatic conditions. Its late bud break, combined with productive secondary buds, provides strong resilience against late spring frosts and other challenging weather, earning it a reputation as a true workhorse grape. Vines exhibit a trailing growth habit.
Clusters are medium to large, often reaching a half pound or more, with large berries that contribute to high yield potential. Production levels of 4–8 tons per acre are achievable under good management. Brianna ripens early and is frequently the first variety harvested in the vineyard, with harvest timing ranging from early August through early September depending on site and climate.
Brianna excels as a seeded table grape and also produces high-quality wines. Fresh fruit displays a distinctive and appealing pineapple flavor that carries through into the finished wine. In winemaking, the variety is highly versatile and can be crafted into multiple styles, including dry blended wines, semi-sweet or dessert wines, and even sparkling wines that highlight its tropical aromatics.
Overall, Brianna is relatively easy to grow, offering good disease resistance along with excellent winter hardiness. Wines are typically light and semi-sweet, showing grapefruit, tropical fruit, and floral notes, with a pronounced pineapple aroma and flavor when fully ripe.
