Dick's Delicious Apple
This early September variety is a larger sport of the Red Delicious Apple. It can vary in size from golf ball to soft ball in size and has a lovely matte finish red skin. Its red skin is dotted by small white lenticels arranged in a vaguely vertical pattern giving the apple the appearance of having paint dripped down its exterior. The skin is chewy but delivers a satisfying crunch. The flesh is a very pale greenish white color and is wonderfully juicy without being drippy. While we cannot confirm this but from personal experience working at the orchard~ people like to buy this apple because one can bake with it without sugar and it's a good apple for individuals with diabetes.
This is a softer apple without being mealy. It has a mild apple flavor that is more sweet than tart but its juiciness is what really shines. Great for ciders and sauce the apple precedes several other September other varieties and is massive for it’s harvest time.
