Literally descriptive name, this apple both ripens early and is a golden yellow color. It is nearly perfectly round with a yellow hue that softens to gold as it matures. The Earligold Apple was discovered in Selah, WA as a chance seedling- therefore its parentage is known. In the Central US, this apple ripens in July but later so along the coasts. It is medium to large in size with bright green skin. This skin brightens to yellow with a slight orange blush on the sun side of the fruit. Like most early apples this should be picked slightly before ripeness to attain the balanced tart flavor. The flesh is creamy white and crispy when picked early. Good for dried apple rings as it holds its shape when dehydrated.
