Blueberries
The color of Blueberries is rather uncommon in nature and these berries do not disappoint. An excellent ground cover and extremely cold hardy, Blueberries are great in northern climates where other fruits cannot grow. Coming in high, medium, and low-bush varieties, the Blueberry offer varied options in gardens. They prefer acidic soil (4.5-4.9 is preferable) and love to be near evergreens. While the berry itself differs in size between a small marble to nearly as big as a quarter, the berries of different sizes ripen at different times allowing for a more wide spread harvest season. Only a few are self fertile but should planted in groups of three at least between 3-5' apart.
