The Zaber is a small tributary of the Neckar River in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. This southern State produced an apple- less common crop than neighboring France to much delight. Originally grown from a Pippin apple in 1885 and released in 1926. Related to the Canada Reinette. Tree is cold hardy does well when allowed to fruit for a few years to really develop superb flavor. Apples grow on spurs.

The apple is rather large and light russeted brown in color covering a base of olive green. Red zones are spotty but present. It is rather light for its size and does not contain a lot of water. Good for drying and na store well.

Harrison would probably like this apple.
