Figs
A famous old world fruit, the Fig has a long history in literature and cooking. The trees are self fertile and produce figs very early on in life. Most figs are only hardy to zone 5 but make excellent container trees. Figs can be cooked or fried or eaten directly off the tree but do not ripen all at once. This spreads out the fruits and extends harvest times. Figs are drought tolerant so inconsistent watering isn't the end of the world though special attention should mind when they are in containers.
