Also known as Beurré Bosc Pear originating from France in the early 1800s; Louis Bosc named this pear describing its buttery texture. It is truly best described as warm cinnamon in color with mild russeting. It flesh is mildly sweet when picked slightly early but the flavor really enhances when left for full ripeness. However, the russeted skin can wrinkle as pear ripen from inside out. The skin matters not for flavor and can be enjoyed for weeks after picking. Generally- pick early as that allows pears to last longer. Known for use in baking and poaching.
