This is a highbush cultivar with an upright growth habit, reaching 4–6 feet in height at maturity. Fruit ripens around July 15. Yields are consistent, ranging from 10–20 pounds per mature plant, depending on cultural practices.
The berries are large, averaging approximately 65 berries per cup. Fruit quality is excellent, with firm berries, small picking scars, and a bright blue color. Harvesting may be done by hand or mechanically. Fruit is borne in open, medium to large clusters. The crop is suitable for both fresh market and processing.
The plant has outstanding ornamental value, with attractive green foliage during the summer and vibrant, fiery red fall color. It is very hardy and drought tolerant. Bluecrop is the leading early to mid-season highbush cultivar in the United States
