A cross of McIntosh and Glogerovka developed by Charles Haralson in 1917 at University of Minnesota's Agricultural Experiment Station in Excelsior, Minnesota. Introduced commercially in 1943 in tandem with FDR's famous Fireside Chats (hence the name) though this might just be coincidental.

The apple is fairly large and generally uniform in shape. The flesh is creamy white and breaking but not too crunchy. Its skin is beautiful with gentle vertical striations giving the effect this apple is on fire (also hence the name). Stores decently well but tends to develop waxy skin the longer it is stored. That's Harrison in the last image showing the true size of the apple.
