The Nova raspberry plant is a vigorous, upright red raspberry cultivar that typically grows to about 4–5 feet tall and wide, forming a productive shrub ideal for berry patches or edible landscapes. Nova is very cold‑hardy, thriving in USDA hardiness zones roughly 3–8, which makes it a dependable choice for gardeners in cooler northern areas.
Its canes are nearly thornless with a manageable habit, making harvesting easier and more pleasant for home gardeners. Nova produces medium‑to‑large, bright red berries with a firm texture and a classic sweet‑tart raspberry flavor that’s delicious for fresh eating, freezing, baking, and preserves. The berries also have a good shelf life, holding up well after picking and in cool storage.
It is a summer‑bearing variety in most climates, ripening gradually through early to mid‑summer with a long harvest season, and in warmer regions may also produce a light fall crop. The plant also shows good disease resistance, tolerating many common cane diseases and helping ensure healthy growth with basic care. It prefers full sun and well‑drained soil, and regular watering during the growing season supports vigorous cane and fruit development. Raspberry plants are sold in packs of three (3).
