The Polana raspberry is a vigorous, upright primocane (everbearing) red raspberry that typically grows to about 4–6 feet tall with a spread of 3–4 feet, making it well‑suited for garden berry rows or edible landscapes. It produces medium to large, bright red, glossy berries with a firm texture and a sweet‑tart, classic raspberry flavor that’s delicious for fresh eating, freezing, baking, jams, and preserves. Polana is known for its early fruiting compared with other fall‑bearing types, beginning in late summer and continuing into early fall, which helps extend the raspberry season.
The plant is self‑fertile, so it doesn’t require another variety nearby to set fruit, and its blooms attract pollinators like bees. Polana raspberries are also cold‑hardy and perform well in a wide range of climates, typically thriving in USDA zones 3–8, making them a good choice for northern gardeners. While not immune to all problems, Polana has good resistance to many common root diseases and general garden pests, helping ensure healthy growth with basic care in full sun and well‑drained soil. Its sturdy canes and manageable height make pruning and harvesting easier compared with some larger varieties. The berries hold up well after picking, giving them good shelf life and making them attractive for markets or u‑pick gardens. Raspberry plants are sold in packs of three (3).
