Sugar Maple

A maple you can tap! The Sugar Maple, or Acer saccharum, is the classic tappable maple. Native to the Eastern United States, the sugar maple was a staple for early Americans. It, of course, can be tapped for maple syrup and refined into numerous other products. Growing to heights of 40-80' and hardy to zone 3, this maple can grow well in many soils and is pollution tolerant. Experts suggest the trees be 8" in caliper before they can be tapped. Tree heights are measured form root to tip.
