Ambrosia Apple
Discovered as a chance seedling in the Similkameen Valley in British Columbia, Canada in the 1990s. Because it was discovered by chance, there is no way of knowing its parentage but it is assume to be a Starking Delicious (other reports suggest a Jonagold) x Golden Delicious since those trees we nearby. While we may never know its history- the Ambrosia Apple has grown to be extremely popular in Canada and is making roads into the US.
It is a large, conical shaped apple that ripens later in the growing season. It is yellow with blush red color when facing the sun. It has thin skin and easy to bite into. Its flesh is creamy white, very juicy, and mildly sweet. The Ambrosia has a low acid content and does not brown quickly. This versatile apple is great for eating, juicing, canning, and baking, and can store for several months.
