Discovered in Kawasaki, Japan in 1895 appearing redder than other pears nearby. Round and golden in color- the Chojuro pear is similar to other Asian pears. However, this pear is slightly auburn in color separating it from other Asian Pears. It is also russeted and rough to the touch. It is crunchy and very sweet with a lovely mellow butterscotch flavor.
