Early ripening English cider pear. Discovered in the mid 1800s in Gloucestershire, England. lower tannin content makes it ideal for use in making perry. Smaller pear, more round than Bartlett. Pears (pun intended) with a Moonglow Pear as another early flowering/ripening pear tree. Tree grows vigorously upright and spreading growing to be a larger tree even on a semi-dwarfing rootstock. Spur Bearer. Pear is more round than pear shaped with greenish russeted skin.
