Kinderkrisp Apple
Created in South Haven, MN by David McGregor, the Kinderkrisp is a new variety that was hybridized from the famous Honey Crisp Apple. Created to be hardy for Minnesota winter, the Kinderkrisp grew well down to Zone 3. The fruits are small, red, and very sweet. The fruit ripens 3-4 weeks before Honey Crisp, can store for up to four months when refrigerated and the flavor maintains its sweet integrity.
The size and taste of this apple really shine where as other apples can grow to enormous size, the Kinderkrisp stays quite small, only slightly larger than a golf ball but is bursting with flavor. They are intensley aromatic, with a cinnamon- honey flavor. The bite is perfect and crispy with that refreshing juice that tends to dribble down your chin. The tree is usually a dwarf and is quite precocious.
