Introduced in the early 1950s by the East Malling and Merton Research Stations in England and creates a very vigorous tree. Cross of Merton 793 {Northern Spy} and M2 {Doucini}. Very popular rootstocks in the 70s and 80s producing long lived, long producing, and large growing trees. Upright growth pattern.
This is our most popular rootstock.
Rootstocks are about 18" long and are ¼" in caliper. Sold in packs of 5, 10 and 25.
Final Height: 85-100% of Standard; ~18-22'
Resistances: Wooly Apple Aphid, 'Quite tolerant' of fire blight and crown/root rots.
Suckering: Moderate
Support Needed: None. This is a large sturdy tree
Precocity: Late - but quicker fruit onset than Seedling
Cold Hardiness: Moderate
