Native to southern Illinois in the US, the Northern Catalpa tree is a common sight in Midwestern yards and is known for its soft wood and trumpet-like flowers. Trees can grow to nearly 100 feet tall though are generally shorter upon maturity. It produces uptight, white and yellow flowers over a light chartreuse leaf. Its seeds are contained in long, narrow shells resembling bean pods. Tree is deciduous and loses it leaves in winter.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Pollination: To reproduce, two Catalpa trees are needed. However, it does not produce really edible fruit and is primarily grown for its flowers and leaves.
