Introduced in 2012 from the University of Washington, the Puget Spice Apple is much smaller than its parents, the Prima and Alkemene. The apple is ping-pong ball in size and is primarily used for cider production. It is high in tannic acid and can be used as a single apple cider.
Its other defining characteristics is its disease resistance. It is immune to Apple Scab and very resistant to powdery mildew. For cider makers, this is an excellent tree as an organic option.
