An old variety of persimmon introduced to the United States in the mid 1870s as an alternative to the American Standard Persimmon. While not as cold hardy- the tree is less astringent and larger than the native persimmon. The Fuyu is squat and bright orange and incredibly sweet. The fruit is eaten fresh and isn generally available in October-November as it needs small touch of frost to sweeten up and ripen properly. It sorta looks like a matte finish (the same sheen you see on plums) orange tomato. The persimmon in the image is smaller than the average we've eaten and seen.
Tree is a grafted female and only grows to 15-30' tall. Fruits only require 200 chill hours and need 6-8 hours of sunlight. Trees ship Spring 2026.
